What's the point?
Science-trained Rhian Field believes Art has a role to play beyond decoration and aesthetic enjoyment. She questions what value visual art can have without the viewer, as engaging with paintings and drawings requires the use of the creative brain that we all have.
Rhian has exhibited her paintings in galleries and public spaces across Wales and in Scotland, collaborating with organisations such as the National Assembly for Wales, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and the RSPB.
Her Deepwater series of work was inspired by her degree in Coastal & Marine Environment Studies and played an important role in her recent PhD field research, which explored the potential for art-science collaboration. See GALLERY and RESEARCH page.
What's on the Horizon?
"While I am compelled to indulge myself in more of the marine subaqua world, and having sold many of my original pieces, I feel a new project rising up in the face of change. This new project hopes to join the conversation around social justice in current times. It is a project I am returning to, with ideas I sketched on scraps of paper some time ago and have added to along the way.
Also, I am researching for a book which will be titled something like "Picture Your Life, Intuitively", and will include images of my artistic works. Its' aim is to explore the proactive and conscious use of pictures for improved clarity of mind, informed decision-making, in both our personal and business lives."
